Lauren Elizabeth and Matthew Torvik’s Hilton Head wedding was a celebration that perfectly blended coastal elegance with deeply personal touches. Though the couple lives in Chicago, Hilton Head has always held special meaning for Lauren’s family, making the Omni Hilton Head Oceanfront Resort the ideal location for their intimate, heartfelt celebration.
As their planner, I had the honor of creating a day that felt intentional, joyful, and effortlessly beautiful — with moments that highlighted their love story, their daughter, and their closest family and friends.

The ceremony took place right on the beach during golden hour, just before sunset. The soft, warm light reflected off the ocean and framed the couple in a naturally romantic glow, creating the kind of moment that looks like it belongs in a magazine. Their daughter, Olive, was an integral part of the ceremony, adding sweetness and family-centered meaning that made the celebration even more special.
Coastal-inspired florals by Flora by Hannah enhanced the natural beauty of the beach setting. The arrangements were soft, organic, and airy — perfectly complementing the serene ocean backdrop and giving the ceremony a relaxed yet refined coastal wedding vibe.

With a smaller guest count, the wedding felt intimate in the best way. Every detail — from seating arrangements to décor — allowed guests to feel fully present in the celebration. Small gatherings like this create a warmth and connection that larger events sometimes struggle to achieve.
The reception, located steps from the ceremony site at the Omni Hilton Head Oceanfront Resort, was designed to feel like a refined coastal dinner party. Elegant linens, soft candlelight, and subtle floral accents provided a sophisticated backdrop while keeping the focus on the family, friends, and joyful energy of the night.
Lauren Elizabeth, a talented home décor designer with her own line, created custom marble place card holders for the escort display. These served double duty: they held each guest’s place card and became gorgeous keepsake favors to take home. It was a detail that perfectly reflected the couple’s style, added a touch of luxury, and made each guest feel celebrated.

One of my favorite moments of the evening was Lauren and Matthew’s unique cake-cutting ritual. Instead of a traditional slice, they opted for a powdered sugar shake — dusting their gorgeous, raspberry topped cake designed by Daniel of DFlavor Custom Cakes, together before cutting it. It was playful, personal, and perfectly in tune with the intimate and family-focused vibe of their wedding. This kind of detail is exactly what makes intimate weddings so memorable: personal touches that truly reflect the couple’s personality.

Flora by Hannah brought the couple’s coastal, breezy vision to life with effortless floral arrangements that mirrored the natural beauty of Hilton Head. Soft textures, neutral tones, and airy greenery elevated every part of the day without ever feeling overdone.
Adding another layer of drama and elegance, Lauri Leber of Coastal Floral and Events created breathtaking overhead draping for the dinner tables. Lauri also designed a stunning backdrop for the lounge area, perfectly dressing the space and giving it an elevated, intimate feel.
For an added touch, I personally and carefully, hand draped each table with 4–5 flowing pieces of drapery, creating a soft, wave-like effect that echoed the movement of the nearby ocean.
Music was a major focus for Lauren and Matthew, and it played a huge role in creating the energy of the day. Palmetto Strings provided magical ceremony music on the beach, setting a serene and romantic tone. Guests were then treated to the lively sounds of the Charleston based band, High Tide during dinner, and later, after dancing with the band, the party seamlessly transitioned to DJ Ede with Darius Starks on saxophone. The blend of live music and DJ performances kept the night fresh, exciting, and full of energy.
For the after-party, just steps from the reception at the Omni Hilton Head Resort, DJ Ede kept the celebration going until 1:00am — an unforgettable way to end a day full of love, laughter, and coastal elegance.

Lauren and Matthew’s Hilton Head wedding was more than just a day of celebration — it was an experience for everyone who attended. From the golden hour beach ceremony to the meaningful incorporation of their daughter, the playful cake moment, and the intimate coastal reception, every element was thoughtfully curated.
As a Charleston and Lowcountry wedding planner, there’s nothing more rewarding than creating a day where couples can feel fully present, surrounded by family, friends, and the natural beauty of the coast. This celebration at the Omni Hilton Head Oceanfront Resort will always be one of my favorites — a heartfelt, stylish, and unforgettable Hilton Head beach wedding.
